OUR STORY

How we started

Founder and chicken enthusiast Josh Gatewood  moved to New York City in January of 2011 to work on Wall Street after finishing up his schooling at the University of Tennessee and the University of South Carolina.

Being in New York City after living in the South, Josh quickly realized there was a severe delicious chicken shortage in America's greatest city.  There was only one thing to do: start his own chicken source to spread the good word....and chicken tenders was the word.

The only problem was after living in New York City for about 8 months without income, Josh went through his savings pretty quick.  He was big on ideas but short on capital.

With a heaping of tenacity, a pinch of intelligence, and a side of luck---Josh was cast for Who Wants to be a Millionaire in the Halloween episode.  When hostess Meredith Vieria asked Josh what he was going to do when he won the million dollars, Josh announced he was going to start an all-American chicken restaurant called "Yankee Doodle Dandy's" right here in NYC.

After winning the startup capital needed for a downpayment, and a a year of planning for the food truck, Yanke Doodle Dandy's hit the streets in New York City in 2013.

Now a favorite of many New Yorkers, tourists, chicken enthusiasts, patriots, and foodies---Yankee Doodle Dandy's is still cruisin' the streets of NYC promoting the ideals of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Chicken.  Come and get it.
